In my experience, you install all that software on each
computer you want to use to access the cable/DSL modem, and
you configure each computer seperately. I think you can
ignore any machines attached to the router that you don't
actually intend to use online.

They usually charge a little extra for each additional
computer hooked into the modem. You ask them for an
additional net connection, they charge you for it, and
they give you a new machine name that is allowed to log
into their network. You go in and set your computer's
network name to the name they give you, set up a LAN
connection to use the password they give you, and
hopefully you're all set afer that.
