I think this is excellent advice that certain, (perhaps all?) listmembers (not just Jeroen) should take to heart. I'm certainly trying to follow it myself -- one of my biggest personal flaws (IMO) is jumping into arguments too quickly. I'm trying to do it less frequently -- usually by letting my 'drafts' folder fill up with unsent mail. I'm Emily Posting my outgoings...
