Ah Tyco! I worked for AMP, which was bought by Tyco, which has been run into
the ground. It was being run into the ground before Tyco, but still...

I see people not being responsible for their own actions. Stupidity and
greed are not excuses. To compare with sex, even if one guy 100% came up
with a plan that ruined thousands of retirement accounts and caused
businesses to collapse and governments to topple, it's still not as bad as
one priest or coach or 'friend of the family' laying a finger on a little
boy or girl in a sexual fashion.

How can we make this equatable? Compare a robber with a gun taking $100 from
you and a bad stock tip losing $100 or a bank collapse and you lose $100.
Even if the stock person or the bank manager knew completely that you would
lose your money, I think the robber is still worse. You also have
responsability for the stock loss or the bank loss. That doesn't mean you
should be an expert, but should still be able to do some work.

How many of us has bought a bona-fide lemon, or at least known someone who
has? A car so bad that you believe 99% that the salesman, dealer or private
person had to know it was bad. I have, my brother has, another friend has.
How many times a day does that happen, across the country? Yes the person is
scum, but if I don't take responsibility for buying the car, then I learn no
lesson. No one held a gun to my head.
