The timing has to have something to do with the elections. Democrats do not want to be seen as unpatriotic in the upcoming elections, so they are more easily manipulated - we see them caving in to the Bush juggernaut as we speak. And of course oil is ever on the mind of oil men and control of a country with the second largest oil reserves in the world should not be discounted as a possible motive.
