When I was in grade school at West Point, and a child was called to the principal's office, the first thought to cross our minds was not "Oooh, what did _s/he_ do?" but "Oh - is her/his daddy in Viet Nam...will he be coming home?" I will never forget watching the evening news while Dad was there. I hope there is no need soon for other children to watch and wait. But I think that is a vain hope. Collective Hostility Score?
