AFAIK, this discussion is missing an important point.  Minvans get much
better milage than SUVs. For example, a Chrysler Cravan (6 cyl)  gets about
20 MPG in the city, while a Chevy Suburban gets about 13.

So, when someone really has to cart a lot of people around, minivans are
better than SUVs.
