eh.... what is the current treatment for chocolate addiction? ;o)

Sonja

It's similar to what is used in the case of accidental ingestion of methanol ("Sterno") or ethylene glycol (antifreeze): to keep the body from absorbing a toxic amount of the poison, immediately administer a large dose of something which ties up the same receptors. In the case of MeOH or antifreeze poisoning, that substance is ethyl alcohol, so in essence the doctor gets the patient very drunk very quick on pure alcohol. (If you could see how many typos I am making this morning, you might wonder if I am also in that condition . . . fwiw, the answer is "no", unless someone sneaked in and hooked me up to an Everclear drip while I was asleep, then disconnected it before I woke up. ;-) )

In this case, however, the only thing which binds to all of the receptors activated by the particular combination of ingredients in chocolate is chocolate.

So the only known treatment for someone suffering from chocolate addiction is to promptly administer a massive dose of chocolate. (Feel free to show this prescription to Jeroen and tell him you need it filled immediately.)

Unfortunately, now I am having withdrawal symptoms and need to go get some . . .
