I work in Palo Alto where the _median_ price for a house is (or was last time I checked) well over half a million. And these aren't all spatial palaces either, there are many small bungalow type dwellings in the city. One of the guys I work with's wife is a teacher in PA and she makes between 40 and 50 K. They don't live in PA, needless to say.
Also, I've heard of cases where teachers are not paid enough to be able to
live in the districts in which they're teaching. I think that's a bit much,
personally.
Yup. Silicon Valley. Saw an article on it two years ago.
I understand it can also happen in sections of Dallas/Plano etc.
