As I said, that was *my* recommendation. Of course, the only two people
I've handed Bujold books to who haven't read anything of hers yet were
women, and I'm a woman, so that might have something to do with it. (My
sister would be a *lot* more interested in Cordelia than Miles, at least
initially.)
The Warrior's Apprentice *is* a good book, and not an unreasonable
introductory novel.
