This account of the goings-on at the LP convention makes it seem pretty interesting/eventful.
Due to the vagaries of the voting process, a back-room deal, and the fact that the two front-runners apparently hated each other, the nomination ended up going to the 3rd-place guy, who had refused to pay income taxes for years and also refused to get a driver's license, among other interesting tidbits.
