I hope the reference to Dean is meant rhetorically. If Dean had been the Democratic candidate, Bush could well have won in California too. Not to talk about PA and WI... I suggest that the brief lead of Dean at the beginning of the campaign played into Bush's hand all too well. It was so divisive, that it energized all those "cultural war" people. Not that I mean that Dean meant that to happen, but this was one result. I think I said my recommendation on my last email - Yes, another centrist like Clinton, all the way. And person with at least as much of a "common people" projection that Clinton had. To put it in cartoon terms: someone who Homer Simpson may vote :-) And someone who Hank Hill may respect too, even when voting against him. Politics *is* about people. People have to like the candidate if they are going to vote. A pity if that centrist road is too constraining for those who want or need some changes faster. Do *you* think I'm fully happy with that? Of course not! But this is the way of democracy... Consider the alternative! Ruben _______________________________________________ http://www.mccmedia.com/mailman/listinfo/brin-l
