Some off-target moments: -Most, most likely All, ABC affiliates were probably never apprised of the Owens-Sheridan stunt before it aired -It is simply dishonest to state that "Playmakers" was canceled because of references to or depictions of extra-marital sex. The NFL's complaints were about drug use, gambling, and I believe game-fixing. I don't recall any NFL complaints about depictions of or references to premarital sex, and if they did exist, they were completely secondary to the above. -No one is complaining about ABC promoting its programming in the MNF intro.... they are complaining about ABC doing so in a way that violates a hitherto pretty-well established community standard of decency. Finally, the author writes: "*And as for the oh-so-horrified NFL itself, when was the last time you heard anybody talking about "Monday Night Football'' on Tuesday morning?" Well, that really just says it all about his credibility when it comes to football, doesn't it? Anyhow, just about every paragraph in this piece was off-target, but the above are probably the best examples.
