As for the point about reinvesting the profits back into the sport, I don't
really understand how this would all work. Assuming people have to provide
these bids off their own back, then they will always take the profits I assume.
Why would they not? If we want people to bother doing this so we have
tournaments to attend, are we not stuck with the current situation as it is
unless there is a central UKUA tour organisation department where people are
employed to set up and run the events and all the profits then go back into the
UKUA?

I don't know if that paragraph makes any sense (it does in my head) but while
we are reliant on individuals to do this, are we not at ransom (bad word) to
what ever price they wish to charge?

Transparency in profits will never happen with the current situation will it?
If we are desperate for bids (we might not be but it seems that we are not
flooded with them) and we start stipulating extra things people must do then
surely we just risk getting less bids and therefore worse run events. Given the
current situation, I'm happy to see my money go into someone's pocket IF it's
the only option but long term, Steve G raises a valuable point about how that
money could be better used. In another random thought from the voices in my
head, if the UKUA did set up a person to run all the events, could we then lose
access to the locations we currently have if the people who held sway revolted
and refused to help out?

How likely all this is to happen though I don't know. Short term I just want an
event to attend! And if it's a good one (Mixed nationals last year for example)
then I am pretty happy to pay my £15 or whatever.

Be nice to know we were helping the sport out in the long term but then I am
maybe being idealistic.

Extortionate is a bit much. It's £10-£15 each for a weekend of sport, a
bargain if you ask me - I certainly won't be entering any bids in a hurry...

£20?
