40% of teams gave a spirit score at T1? That's frankly appalling. Do
people really think this doesn't matter?
If so, we should urgently implement the measures that have been
discussed - always reporting spirit scores after tournaments as Jack and
Milky have done, and using a broader spirit scoring system that gives a
score to every team you play. I think the texting system is a top notch
idea.

On a random note, we will be (hopefully) be implementing a reporting
system at Nationals whereby EACH team texts in their score after EACH
game. We would also like a spirit score out of 10 for to be done at the
same time. If (and the if is a big one) each team did this, it would
make life a lot easier for those running the tournament and would give a
proper representation of spirit at the presentation. The biggest
problems I had at Tour 1 were getting scores in, people
forgetting/disagreeing on scores, and spirit. If both teams texted
immediately after the game we'd have (you'd hope) two matching
scorelines and a spirit score for both team logged immediately. Then we
can update the pools as the day goes on and at the presentation we'd
have a really accurate sprit trophy to award. At tour 1 I ran around
like a fool for nearly 2 hours and probably got 40% of the spirit scores
in. Which is a shame as it would be nice to get all of them in, if
possible.
I am pretty sure one person on your team will get free texts. Failing
that, take turns to text the score in and split that 60p phone bill
between you! It would make things run a lot more smoothly. If we use the
same UKUA phone each time (all conjecture on my part) then people could
use this system (if it works) at each UKUA event.
Seems a bit archaic all this running around and shouting at people in
the dinner queue for missing scores. Just an idea like.

Subject: [BD] Spirit of the Game
Hi all,
I would just like to comment on Jacks spirit of the game scores. While I
think that in principle that it is a good idea to release information
like this i feel that a more accurate medium should be used to determine
this. For example a system we tried to implement last year was a score
out of ten for EVERY team you played. 5 being an average game with
nothing bad and nothing amazingly good in it. deducting points for
aggressive behaviour or a bad unresolved call, plus points given for
good discussion of a call, and generally spirited behaviour.
The problems with the format is getting people to give in their spirit
scores. from a TD prospective it gets really confusing as any team that
does not submit a spirit vote CANT win spirit... some teams have
therefore won by default... is this a true reflection of spirit???
A 3-2-1 score does not give an accurate account. Just my ramblings as
