In my experience the number of people who turn up to practices is roughly similar to the number who turn up to tournaments. I dont think there are many sizes of club that would be disadvantaged by this, though as with every change there will be some that are better off than others. > I've got a few other questions, just intended to explore more of the > consequences of introducing a '14-person team' rule: Ok, here are my suggested answers... > > - assuming the total squad has more than 14 people at the tournament, are > the 'left-overs' allowed to sideline for the match (i.e. actually have a > useful role) or would they be limited to only spectating? Anything that grows the sport without damaging the sport is a good thing in my opinion, and if the Tour has to evolve to cope with that then so be it. Open and Mixed Tour are already at breaking point if you ask me so I think more venues and split tours will have to come back sooner rather than later. Who knows - maybe this could provide the growth spurt that gets us past the tricky in-between stage? Personally I think it is likely that we would find that successful clubs would head towards a 2 team structure. I dont think this would return us to the situation of more invitation only teams (though I accept this is possible). Sounds like we are really just disagreeing on the number?
