Now that seems just a step away some things we discussed some time ago
(assuming output to a pix-type file):

1. a quick ray trace to determine the actual view boundaries

2. adjusting the view to snuggle the objects with a rectangular window

3. rtedge then does its trick and writes to a rectangular pix file

4. rtedge outputs:

    viewsize
coordinates of the center of the view
    ...
    actual pix map dimensions

Voila! I have my dream rtedge: a complete programmatic interface to
generate the highest quality bitmaps one desires along with sufficient
information to map the bitmap to model dimensions for generating
PostScript (or other format) overlays to model scale.

Best regards,

-Tom
