I was mostly joking.
More serious, when was born, BB sendmail has extensive configury. I dropped
it because even fully-blown it took about 3Kb which I thought was good
enough.
The main intent of starting development was inability (in the past) to send
via https://mail.gmail.com patches to BB list using console web browser
called links. If you take it in account you'll find the origin of all
so-called _weird_ features that BB sendmail has.
Really, if I'd started sendmail as a smart nc, things would have been
different.
