HRD needs to have a port number that you input from the keyboard.

Windows Plug -n- Pray detects a device that is plugged into a USB. It then
sets the device port number and then loads a driver that is supplied when
you load the SignalLink software into your computer.

Your Signallink should have the cable connected and be turned on. Turn on
your computer and then plug the cable into your USB port. If PnP detects
the device, it will appear as a virtual port in the device manager (under
Ports (COM & LPT)) and will indicate its port number. If no port is
indicated, right click on Ports and select (Scan for hardware changes). If
PnP does not find your hardware, something else is wrong.
