Also, you should not use a tuner on 6…losses become important at VHF….and you should be able to make the rig match the antenna directly with no tuner needed....any tuner inline will add to your losses and degrade your operation on VHF…
GL on 6! The Gentlemen’s band…(be sure to scan the beacon subband from 50.06 to 50.08 to see if there are any CW auto beacons..a good indication if the band is open) Chris WB5ITT From: BVARC [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Gayle Dotts via BVARC Sent: Monday, January 09, 2017 5:13 PM To: BRAZOS VALLEY AMATEUR RADIO CLUB <[email protected]> Cc: Gayle Dotts <[email protected]> Subject: Re: [BVARC] Home built 6 meter 5/8 wave vertical 6 Meter vertical completed. This is coil loaded from the bottom 10 turns. The plans say 14GA coated wire and tap. I think the wire should be bare for the tap (aligator clip) to connect to. Plans don"t say this. By the way SWR is way high.3.0. Any advice.
