For SSB local and normal use, you want a horizontal antenna on 6…when the band opens, anything works…but for best SSB use, a H pol like a Halo or turnstile antenna for omni or yagi is best…

The ARRL Antenna book has a number of loop antenna designs )iirc), I have a new M-2 HO Loop waiting to be used at my location.. Had one at another location & had obtained 1,000 mile QSO's on SSB at 25 ft. height with 100 watt Ranger DX-5054 with about 50 ft. coax (At the late WS5H Bill Stone's location in Sharpstown)..

If others are interested in 6m, I might be willing to part with my M2 HO Loop (NEW, still in box) and a used Ranger DX-5054 radio..(Address & phone in BVARC roster correct).

6 Meter vertical completed.

With BVARC help and info: new height legnth , new radials legnth, 1" wide x 5" long loading coil..... thank you! Currently bottom of antenna is up only 10 feet off ground (all the height I have at present).

SWR...... shows 1.3 @ 50.125 with power set at 25% using LDG AT-100Pro Autotuner.

No contacts heard but band may be quiet at the moment. I'm hoping for the best.

Almost finished my first home built 6 Meter antenna, 13.5 feet
tall with 49" radials. This is coil loaded from the bottom 10
turns. The plans say 14GA coated wire and tap. I think the wire
should be bare for the tap (aligator clip) to connect to. Plans
don"t say this. By the way SWR is way high.3.0. Any advice.

    Thanks,
