It isn't that I want it offline, I just don't want all my personal
information in plain view of the world. I'm suggesting that it be
behind a protected page that requires some type of authentication to
access, be that method a password or something else. Having it all
unlisted is fine and what I prefer in current state, but now no club
member can actually contact me and that wasn't my intent

yes, the email addresses used to be clickable.. and the callsigns were
clickable also (to link to QRZ.com) ..not anymore.
one of the things I like is that members can see if they are about to
expire, or just expired.. and easily renew.

This records Does have a link to our renewal page which is a clickable

As the webguy and a programmer, it is simple simple for me to make
changes.. So I can easily make this work any way
the board decides... And I am always open to ideas.
Jimmy, I know you say you want it offline, but is your current record
acceptable? I mean do you also not want your name and call to
display, or your expiration date? Currently you are set to the MOST
secure.
Eddie
PS, Howard, currently the clubs membership officials, maintain the
club membership roster, they can see and manipulate all information
about all members present and past (we keep a historical record as
well as current member ship).. This raw information is password
protected of course.
The visible (Current Roster) is visible on the website to the general
public.. and this is what the discussion is about.

there is the argument that this information is available on the FCC
ULS, but you have to work for it, not just scrap a single page and
grab a couple hundred names, addresses, phone numbers and emails. Th
ULS also does not list phone numbers or email addresses
The comment that only members can see the information is incorrect.
Anyone including every bot trolling the Internet scraping names and
emails can download the information listed at
http://www.bvarc.org/index1.php?page=roster
The visible fields are
*NAME
<http://www.bvarc.org/index1.php?page=roster&ifget=R&searchtype=&searchterm=&sort=ASC&searchsort=last>*
*CALLSIGN

*CLASS

For the email is uses 'at' instead of '@' and there is no longer a
clickable link for the email (pretty sure it used to be clickable)
Maybe use a 'captcha' or post some other image on the main page that
would clue members in to what the password is when we forget?

I have no problems as they are now, only members can see what is now

Should board members have email addresses visible to "Members Only" ?

BVARC Roster - Discussion:
Bvarc provides a roster of current and recently expired members on the
bvarc.org website.
1.) ease of contacting other members.
2.) ease to see when or if you are about to expire.
BVARC also provides a list of members that are Board members as well as
lists
of members that have won awards in the past. As well as a list of silent
keys (SK).
(on the who is page)
A public roster is pretty standard in Ham radio (callbooks, QRZ website,
FCC lookup)
and in the past, BVARC even used to post roster info
in some of the early newsletters ( before there was a website )
Recently with the digital age some concerns about privacy have come up.
Our membership roster can currently display records
PUBLICLY
NO PHONE
or
NO LIST AT ALL (this lists name and call only with no address or phone)
But another idea has been to make the Roster Password protected so only
members with the correct password can see the roster.
Currently only the ADMINS can see the entire unrestricted member list
(password protected) but the general public can see the slightly restricted
current roster.
My personal opinion is not many people even know the roster is there,
(it isnt used much) and if we had a member password no one would remember
it.
I would love to hear what the general membership thinks about this.
