To summarize what I have read, sounds like the project baseline for the 
student team is to take the GUI installer and replace the GUI with a 
curses UI for both x86 and SPARC.

Maybe extra credit for improved support for server installs, primarily 
setting a static IP.

Additional options e.g. use of AI backend, net install, etc. would be 
handled as follow-on projects.
