Hi Alta,

These are my comments on the top level page.

General:
Not sure if you're trying to use Automated Installer rather than AI. The links at the top have both, and so does text on the page. It would be good to have it "defined" somewhere "Automated Installer (AI)" reference to define it.

The following links brought up docs.sun.com with
Error: The requested item could not be found:

o Under Overview, the link to the OpenSolaris Automated Installer Guide
o Under Differences, the link to the OpenSolaris Image Packaging System Guide
o Under Test Install, the link to "How to Review What You Have on Your Server"
o Under Rules Keywords and Criteria Manifest Directives, the link to How to Create and Use a Criteria Manifest o Under Profile Keywords and AI Manifest Directives, the link to How to Create and User a Custom AI Manifest o Under Converting JumpStart Rules and Profile Files to Automated Installer Manifests, the link to "How to Create Custom SC Manifest Files"

Under Similarities:
"Can boot clients either from an install server or from media (for example, for SPARC clients that do not have WANboot capability)"

SPARC clients that -> Automated Install SPARC clients that

Under Installing Clients, it would be helpful to have a link to how to create setup for a specific client

Under Installation Configurations, the AI paragraph would probably benefit if there was a link to some example (short) manifests, demonstrating what you've explained in the text.

Under Rules Keywords and Criteria Manifest Directives:
o the equivalent AI crteria for hostname opensolaris seems incorrect.
o Just a nit, but for ai_criteria_name="Platform", it would be good if the value matched that in the JumpStart Rules. So maybe have both be SUNW, Sun-Fire-880?

Under Profile Keywords and Criteria Manifest Directives:
o for JumpStart usedisk, it would be good if the ai_target_device referred to the JumpStart boot_device section, showing how ai_target_device is used.

Under Converting JumpStart Rules and Profile Files to Automated Installer Manifests, a few things: o In the sample Jumpstart profile, if you want the evo cluster, the name is SUNWCevo. I think you might just want the SUNWevolution package, in which case you would use:
        package         SUNWevolution
rather than using the cluster keyword.
o Probably use the /rel repo rather than /dev in example?
o the JumpStart example *adds* evolution and the AI example *removes* it. I think you want it to be the same for both?
o for the AI manifest, you should use the new name for SUNWevolution,
mail/evolution

(nit) Under Converting Rules to a Criteria Manifest, in the table for Equivalent AI Criteria Manifest Directives, the ARCH value is Sparc while under Rules Keywords and Criteria Manifest Directives, it shows sparc. I believe it's case insensitive, but thought I'd note it.

Thanks,
Sue

Installers,

We would like to get your comments on some Automated Installer and
JumpStart how-to documentation. This documentation is intended to help you
migrate from JumpStart to Automated Installer. This set of documentation
references the AI guide, but it is more than that. We have tried to
document the entire process around automated install, including setting up
a DHCP server, setting up a local repository, creating an SMF service to do
post-install tasks, etc.

Do you use JumpStart now? Have you tried AI? Specific examples of how you
use AI, or how you use JumpStart so that we can provide specific migration
examples to AI, would be very much appreciated. We would love to get
example JumpStart begin and finish scripts so that we can work on specific
AI solutions for those. We have general descriptions now, but it would be
great to be able to say, "If you did this in your JumpStart begin|finish
script, do it this way in AI."

You can send comments to this alias, or you can comment directly on the
wiki pages.

Please send questions and comments by Friday, May 14.
