I agree that tabs shouldn't get too cluttered. I like having the favicon visible though, as it serves as a useful reminder of the site that the tab is associated with -- something the page title doesn't always indicate. I find that I now navigate through my tabs much more by favicon than title.

Ditto. I don't want to have to have a 'tooltip' kind of thing to find out what's under an inactive tab too thin to display the title. A favicon is a good way to identify what's there.


That said, it feels weird having the favicon to the right of the title, as the de facto emerging standard is for it to be to the left.

Yep. Should be to the left where it belongs, as in the location bar.


If anything, I'd prefer the close widget to be less easy to activate I'd quite like the close widget to be taken off the tab altogether.

Nope. Best way to close an inactive tab is to point to a close widget on the tab itself.


I don't see 1 widget, 1 wee graphic, and the title on a tab as being too cluttered.
