I thought that was one of the ideas which sparked development of
Chimera/Camino, as well as its underlying implication using Cocoa.

 Using the delete key to remove an item from the toolbar list was my
first choice. Also I find unlabeled icons ambiguous frequently, so I
will choose a  known keyboard shortcut before clicking on an icon.

Perhaps this is something that should be accomplished before a 1.0
release? This would leave programmers able to meet the current
milestone goal of fixing the current list of outstanding bugs.
