You will not be able to catch an unmanned boat in anything but the
lightest weather. Just the act of climbing aboard a sailing,
unmanned F-27 is really difficult, as I found out (that story to be
posted another time). I was wearing shorts, a thin gore-tex shell
jacket and no shoes, a better outfit for this task would be very
unlikely. If I didn't already have physical contact with the boat, a
rope in this case, there is no way I could have caught up. I was a
competitive swimmer a few years back and can still easily pass most,
if not all, swimming tests for lifeguards. Not losing contact with
the boat is your only hope.
