I am curious about the job market for programmers in general. Only being a programmer for 8 years with most of it during the DOTCOM craze I wonder what the market for programmers were like the 60's, 70's and 80's.
Wasn't offshoring an issue with programmers back then? What happened when mainframes started to be replaced by pcs? When did programmers start to be called Developers, Software Engineers and stuff? Where there consultants back then or did everyone work for IBM?
