Date - 22 May 06
Day - Monday
Start - Marlow
End - Windsor racecourse

It was a filthy day again and as we are well ahead we didn't move until
after lunch. The other three narrowboats moored with us all moved off
during the morning. This proved to be a very quiet mooring, the only
downside being that there aren't any mooring bollards or rings and you
have to use pins. Diana went into town to do a bit of shopping and get
some money out of the hole in the wall.
We arrived at Marlow Lock just before the lock keeper came back from
lunch and had a chat with a boat we had often seen on the Leicester
summit. After he left the lock and passed our bows he told Diana that he
use to be a member of CIBC.By now the rain had stopped and we didn't
have any more all afternoon and later the sun even managed to show its
face.
After all the rain over the last few days the lock keepers have started
to draw the weir paddles. At Marlow 5 small paddles and one large one
were up and by the time we passed Monkey Island there was quite a flow on
the river.
As we approached Windsor  Racecourse Yacht Basin I spotted a length of 24
hour moorings on the opposite bank. There was one narrowboat moored
there and we decided moor at the other end of the mooring with room for
another boat between us. I slowed down and turned hard to the left to
turn into the flow and wind, but the time we were half way round we were
travelling down stream at quite a rate due to the water flow and the wind,
once round I was not making any progress against the stream on tickover.
We moored just after 5 pm. and a short time before it started to rain
again.
