Sorry but the fact of the matter is that the Watford end of the Leicester summit was never widened, therefore making it, rightly or wrongly, the preserve of the narrowboat.

So even though the line was built  to the same gauge as the rest of the GU
was widened to ( with the exception of one set of locks)
you feel that it should be the preserve of narrow boats only.
Isn't that rather a selfish attitude?
As for one way tunnels there are many of them all over the country so that
is hardly a hardship.
I have to say that more and more there is an attitude of canals are for
narrowboats and the rest can go forth, I just find it unbelievable that
individuals and certain organisations can hold this view, after all we all
own BOATS and we all enjoy similar things about them.
