Steve wrote " My own advice would be NOT to put in any new engine which,
like the high revving 1.5 will sooner or later give up the ghost."

But Beta's are mainly based on Kubota units. High revving? I don't think
so!
My boat has an 'un-marinised' Kubota plant engine installed. It is the
same as you'd find in a mini digger or the like with a marine drive
plate and gearbox fitted on the end.

And he continued with " Why not a reconditioned air cooled Lister two
cylinder or something like that? "

How long ya got Steve? It is becoming so common nowadays to have to
share locks with smokey old poorly maintained SR2s that I fully
understand where the Thames lock 'engine off' rule comes from.

He continued with " Something with a bit of torque which is minimum
maintenance and high durability? "

Back to the Kubota then Steve!
