Anyone heard anything along those lines?
When Mum's boat was done earlier this year the failure on ventilation
was noted on the BSS pass certificate. The insurance company then
hassled her about having the "problem" put right. We said that there was
no way we were going to change something that has been the same for many
years, particularly when the theoretical risk posed when all the four
cooker rings, the grill, the oven and the Morso stove were all alight at
the same time was obviated by the fact that in such a situation the
cabin would be so hot that the front and back doors would have to be
open, thus increasing the ventilation.
Our calculations show that the boat has more tan adequate ventilation
for any combination if items that we will ever use.
They then endorsed the insurance saying no problems related to this
failure would be covered. How extreme the implementation of this would
be e.g. would any sort of fire on board be excluded, is unknown.
