Date - 6 Oct 06
Day - Friday
Start - 1000 Hillmorton
End - 1445 The Bridge Napton

Last night we ate at the Royal Oak,Hillmorton. This is now a hungry
horse eating house. The Speckled Hen bitter was OK and the food was
cheap. I had cow pie and wish I hadn't, we didn't bother with the sweets.
The rain stopped about tea time but started again during the night. This
morning was quite bright regardless of the BBC weather forecast and we
have only had very short showers but they have been accompanied with
quite strong squalls and very unpleasant. We stopped at Braunston to
fill with water and while Diana was doing this I nipped round to Tony
Redshaw's to take the end of my heat exchanger back which was the wrong
size. As we approached Napton Narrowboats they had then started sending
their boats out for the week which caused very slight congestion. There
are still as many boats in the Branston area not displaying valid
licences, I counted 8 to the end of the puddle banks.
After last night we decided to stop at the Bridge Inn Napton for a
this evening for a decent meal and then continue our journey up the
flight in the morning. When we arrived just before 3 there wasn't a
single boat moored on the stretch in front of the pub, so we are in the
closest spot with the shortest walk and a table is booked for 8.
