Hmmmm... I agree and disagree with both sides of this in equal measure=20
(it can be Hell being a Libran). Maintaining thrust behind the main=20
campaign is very important (we must all hang together and all that) but=20
showing that we are open to reasoned debate about the issues=20
counteracts the "Well they would say that wouldn't they?" dismissal=20
gambit to which the simple stop-the-cuts message is vulnerable.
And I do believe the taxpayer should continue to contribute to the=20
maintenance of a system which has both public safety and heritage=20
claims on the Exchequer. The memorial plaque at Cheddleton Lock=20
(through which we worked twice today) refers amongst others to Sir=20
Frank Price - now there was a man who fought the good fight in far=20
tougher conditions. And there was none of this "BW should not have to=20
rely on Treasury money" cr*p either.
