Yes, I watched that program (its part of my Sunday morning
routine). The Chief Exec of Natural England was a chicken in
that he skirted round the subject of the Defra cuts when
asked about their effect on his budgets. I guess being a new
boy he decided he'd better not comment about his masters (Defra).
The Environment Agency have taken the same view and just decided
to cover the cuts by raising boat license fees. BW are being a
bit more forthright by at least saying how difficult it is going
to be to manage with the cuts.
One more reason to get BW out of Defra I say.
