Or just buy a voltage regular - that limits the voltage regulator -
that accepts 12 to say 18V's in but provides a regulated 12V out. 

One of the many boat electrical system suppliers must have such a
device.

Mind you - it would probably cost more than the TV - but really the
boat yards should put such systems in as standard - but of course we
know that they don't !!!
