Many thanks for all the replies which I'll work through. Just for the
record this is far from a first time trip, Dad started us on the cut in
the 50s up Llangollen (almost in the wake of Cressy) and I have vivid
memories of Leicester just being a carpet of old tires, wood and dead
fish from one side to the other - how nice to see it now!
Whilst father has been in his 90s he's done the Caldon, Huddersfield
right through, 1/2 Leicester ring and the Avon ring and I've rung up
about 40 weeks hire over the years but never got as far south as the K
& A (other than seeing the end at Reading).
