>From memory, I've never seen Adrian racing in his boat - I'm certain if he's passing a moored boat, he will give it all the respect it derserves. But he does leave the gates open, and rightly so (where he lives) - and I also agree that leaving them open is better - providing the locks are sufficiently watertight OR have sufficient surplus water to keep the by-washes running.
