I too have not witnessed his passing boats prowess for myself but the
towpath gossip does suggest that he passes 'lesser' craft (ie, narrow
boats (note the plural)) at least at 'mooring pin removal' speed.

The same towpath tittle-tattle would also suggest that Onx is regularly
used to 'persuade' lock gates to open before their optimum fill state
has been achieved and so therefore casting doubts over your hope about
their watertight properties once he has passed merrily on his way.
