I think, Ann, that you're getting mixed up with the magnetic mooring device that seemed so promising, and was featured (IIRC) in April 2007's edition of Waterways World. With the correctly adjusted magnetic field you could choose just how hard you wanted to be kept in to the side or not. I'm no expert but perhaps if the field were reversed suddenly you could shoot the boat out sideways just like a super side-thruster when you were ready to set off. Just a thought and trying to be equally as helpful of course. ;-))) Roger
