We had a lady caller while we were moored at Chester - at first she
thought we were someone else, and then started a sob story about being
hit by her boyfriend, and needed money to get back to Ellesmere Port.
She was trying it on with my Dad, but I've heard it all before, and
got up and told her so. So just remember if you get a similar sob
story here or elsewhere.

We left Chester in the morning just as another boat was coming along,
and we shared the locks up to the long pound. We overtook a couple of
boats on the pound, and thankfully one of the slower boats pulled in
before the locks. We shared them with another boat through that first
lock, but they were stopping at the boatyard, so we went up the Iron
Lock on our own - as you should...

We were alone all the rest of the way up the locks, and soon found
ourselfs at the top. We stopped in Nantwich at 6pm.
