It is most unlikely that such an alternator change will materially
affect your charging time. Increasing the charge voltage however will.
The existing unit together with an alternator controller (or
adjustment of the regulator setting) would be a better option.
IMHO the only justification for such large alternators is where large
loads are imposed  whilst running. Typically the use of an inverter
for vacuuming, or cooking.
The above assumes that you have a twin alternator setup with NO diodes
in the system. Infact if you do have a twin setup then incorporate a
system to link the alternators. Take a look at www.smartgauge.co.uk
for alternator control and linking.
