VNF simply copied the Thames scheme, with no consultation, when it introduced its vignette. The problem has been that VNF was used to running the French waterways only for freight. It has taken a long time to get it to realise that leisure boating is the only thing that will save most of the Freycinet (and smaller) routes. VNF has become easier to talk to, but other topics of higher priority for leisure boaters have been, effectively, taking up the available time. Eventually, though ... The only mildly argentine coating on this is that VNF's charges are (so far) so much lower than BW's. Adrian Adrian Stott 07956-299966
