Eureka! but I don't know why. I right clicked the page showing in Firefox (to give Martin some more info) and there was an entry @this frame@ on exploring further there was an option there to @reload this fr...@. I did that and the new page came up. I closed it down , closed Firefox, reopened it and the new page is still there., as are the other pages I changed.
It is still a mystery to me but I think I will have really good look at my Firefox settings later. Thanks everyone who came up with suggestions this afternoon. Next problem. to suss out why when I try to do quotes it comes up as an ampersand! Not asking for help wit that one, it will be something simple, I am sure.
