Following the National Rally in Marple in 1966 the Bosley flight was a joy to
work and in 1971 I made a decent of the whole flight in 57 minutes. Then BWB
started to replace some of the gates with economy steel one made at Northwich.
They were not very pretty even when painted and were not fitted with walk
boards across the top gates . Over the years all the top gates have been
replaced without walk boards. The lower landing stages were gradually lost as
they became unsafe and were removed. In recent years some of the 1970s steel
gates have been replaced with wooden gates matching the old pattern but again
on the top gates, no walkboards. Also some of the lower landing stages have been
replaced and that number is to added to in the latest proposals. Chris.KP
