While working in London I often drank Newcastle brown in Thames-side pubs. The 
colour of Thames and Beer was the same And I did wonder..

Davenports was a terrific beer and won many awards. Watney's, by way of
comparison, was disdained even by gnats and was so weak that it was only a
percentage point or so away from being a drink that could be legally sold to
children.
