Ahem - having to admit to a similar sufferance of Anno Domini I 
wouldn't mind placing a small bet that you are referring to 
Bettisfield - about four hundred yards from the canal, stone flag 
floors and an atmosphere that no amount of refurbishment will ever come 
remotely near!
