Just got back from Limehouse (where the new, and hugely expensive,
pontoons are indeed in place below the lock, but make the turn into
the lock mouth more tricky).

Squatting on the Lee has got *much* worse in the last year or so.
Large squatter towns above Springfield lock (new) and below Springwell
marina (reappeared, both banks). Lots more ones and twos everywhere,
easily identifiable by the lack of boat care within living memory and
the incredible amounts of junk on the roof, back deck, accompanying
dinghy, etc.

Despite BW's protestations (including at the recent user meeting at
Cheshunt), it is clear it hasn't got a grip on this situation.

But nice to find that there has indeed been dredging below Tottenham
lock and at Turkey Street brook, so these lengths (where incoming
streams dump a lot of crud) are easy going. For now. Enjoy it while
it lasts. This needs doing every year, but is done about one in five.
