We once had the gear cable on our Morse control snap while we were approaching Osney Lock on the Thames, with the result that by the time the steerer realised that we were still in forward, we were heading for the gates at quite a lick. I have to admit that, in our concern to avoid damaging ourselves or anything else too badly, we somehow failed to appreciate the appropriateness of having Morse issues in Oxford... Martin L
