We are still chugging westwards along the K&A. Thurs 19 Aug Moored at Wilcot near Bridge 117 - 7 mi, 5 fl - 7 locks Start 09:55, moored up at 14:40
Rain forecast for the afternoon but we weren't going far so a civilised start was made when nb Tarka from Peterborough emerged from Adopters Lock. We went with them up to the summit where we dodged 3 full length boats - nb Stockton before the tunnel and a pair loaded with domestic fuel in the middle of the tunnel itself. Paused for water at Wootton Rivers so ended up doing the last lock [51] solo, pulling up in a reasonably deep spot at Wilcot. Greyish and draughty afternoon, enough to discourage us from a planned bike ride, but we got our exercise later in the evening by walking to 'The Golden Swan' [all of 500yds from Bridge 117] which does good, wholesome pub-grub at reasonable prices and produces a reasonable pint of Wadworths IPA. Zero Vodafone signal so this'll have to wait to tomorrow in Devizes. Baz
