So what is the point? Users are already double posting! We either move and retire the mailing list or we stay the way we are, otherwise we end up maintaining 2 sites.

The fact of the matter is 9/10 threads on the user's mailing list are Q&A, and the other fact is that probably 5/10 questions asked on the user's mailing list have been asked/answered before, this to me tells me that either, the users are not able to easily search for answers or they too lazy to search before asking, either way it comes to the tool not being easy for them.
